He was predeceased by : his parents, Amos Dawes and Mildred Elliott Dawes; his wife Diana Beedy; and his daughter Leanna Smith. He is survived by : his children, Melinda Majors of Washington, C. H., Martin Smith II of Washington, C. H. and Samantha Smith of Washington, C. H.; and his siblings, Leonard Smith (Danna) of Goshen, Brenda Wright (Larry) of Washington, C. H., Chuck Dawes (Goldie) of Washington, C. H. and Norma Adkins (Lonnie) of Washington, C. H.. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Washington Cemetery (1741 Washington Ave, Washington Court House, OH 43160).
