He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Schaffner Buffenbarger; his daughters, Michele Blubaugh of Bluffton and Leslie Blubaugh of Arizona; his stepchildren, Andy Buffenbarger (Ellen Leatherman) of Van Wert, Ray Buffenbarger (Jennifer) of Wren, Ohio, Jim Buffenbarger, Jr. (Cathy) of Eufula, Alabama and Ronaele Blauvelt (Ron) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his grandchildren, Adam Buffenbarger, Aaron Buffenbarger, Amanda Stump (Dallas), Jacob, Joshua Buffenbarger, Ashley Buffenbarger, Zach, Trenton Buffenbarger, Landon Buffenbarger, James Crowell, Damiana Fritz (Tyler), Sierra Satathite (James), Austin Durham, Dominic Sabol and Daniel Spencer; his stepgrandchildren, Corey Blauvelt, Ashley Perry, Terzah Blauvelt, Kyle Leatherman, Ethan Leatherman and Avery Leatherman; his great grandchildren, Calliope, Reneesme, Satorei, Aryana, Rylie, Everlie and Tatum; and his siblings, Wayne Blubaugh (Evelyn) of New Mexico, Lloyd Blubaugh of Ottawa, Kevin Blubaugh of McComb and Zola Dulle of Columbus Grove. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
