He was predeceased by: his parents, Alva Saunders and Hazel Saunders; his wife Barb Saunders; and his sister Arminta Jane Forrest. He is survived by: his daughters, Connie Lee Atkisson, Pat Morehart, Nancy Sands (Robert) and Kym Kauffman (Kenny); his grandchildren, Aaron Atkisson (Tiffany Reynolds), Alycia Alexander (Aaron), Kristen Kenney, Chad Morehart, Jeremy Sands, Sgt. Shaun Sands (Alicia), Nick Sands (Brittany), James Kauffman, Kyle Kauffman (Lexi) and Nicole Berczelly (Andrew); and his great grandchildren, Gavin, Kaydence, Ysabelle, Asher Atkisson, Sierra, Jalen, Issiah, Alexis, Leanna, Markus Alexander, Kelsey, Kinley Kenney, Carter, Colsen, Brantley Sands, Sicily, Paisley and Lorelei Kauffman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
