He was predeceased by: his parents, Allan DeVene and Ethel DeVene (Baughman); and his sisters, Marcella Harbison and Ruth Kuhn. He is survived by: his wife Suzanne DeVene (Downs); his children, Valli Chaney (Jim), Vicki Kingseed (John), Sara DeVene and Andrew DeVene (Allison); and his grandchildren, Lucas, Eliot DeVene, Erica Harper (Jamie), Emily Danner, Amber Nye, Greg Chaney (Holli), Nicholas Cleland (Amy), Erin Sherwood (Keith) and Shelly Jackman. He is also survived by twenty two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
