He was predeceased by: his parents, William Buffington and Ruth Buffington (Brown); his wife Wilma J. Buffington (Brown); and his siblings, William, Calvin Buffington and Marilyn Shepherd.

He is survived by: his daughter Ellen R. Aichholz (Steve) of New Washington; and his grandchildren, Larai and Makayla Aichholz. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
