He was predeceased by: his parents, John Elza Hale Sr. and Tinsie Hale (Hill); his wife Mary Hale (Rutter); his siblings, Theodore Hale (Harry Hale), Marjorie Williams, Ruth Saunders, Marilyn Williams, Merriam Jewell and Dorothy Marshall; and his son-in-law Edward Swihart.
He is survived by: his children, John A. Hale, Gary Hale (Gena), Angela Sharrer (James), Christy Mattingly (Mark), Karen Mundy (Mike) and Carmen Swihart. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; lots of special friends; special musician friends, and many church friends.
