He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Edward and Mary Spurgeon (Boyd); his wife Imogene Spurgeon; his son Larry Spurgeon; his stepchildren, Albert Byler and Carol Calvert; and his siblings, Anna Ahart, Theron Spurgeon, Chester Spurgeon, Rose Cochran, Charlie Spurgeon, Melvin Spurgeon, Altha Camren and Leta Potter.

He is survived by : his children, Brenda Howard (Gary) of Agra, Cherry Gayetty (Paul) of Perkins and Gary Spurgeon of Perkins. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
