He was predeceased by: his parents, Cole Winston Tidwell, Sr. and Velma Joyce Yancey Tidwell; his grandson Cole Winston Tidwell; his sisters, Barbara Eldridge, Fee Wheeler, Betty Brady and Ginger Mason; and his brother-in-law Frank Rutledge.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Rheta Tidwell; his children, Joe David Tidwell (Phyllis), Richard Arlen "Rick" Tidwell (Suzanne) and Deborah Sue "Susie" Tidwell; and his grandchildren, J. J., Leigh Peek, Jeff, Christy Peek, Lara, Bobby Austin, Greg, Lorisa Tidwell, Rusty, Denise Tidwell and Jodi B. Tidwell Stewart. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
