He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Maurice Hayes and Doreen Hayes; his sister Kristy Sparks; his wife Gale of Checotah; his children, David Hayes of Checotah, OK, Curtis Hayes of Placerville, CA and Christina Lopey (Jim) of Elk Grove, CA; his grandchildren, James, Jessica, Jerry and Steven; his sister Kelly McDonald of Placerville, CA; and his aunt Betty Teche of Kansas City, KS.. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a lifetime of friends.
