Vetoe G. Hentz Obituary

Vetoe G. "Jimmy" Hentz was born on September 12, 1939, in Hartshorne, OK, to Daisy Lozano and Vetoe Hentz. He was raised by his grandparents Frank and Lottie Lozano and grew up at #10 with his numerous aunts, uncles and his 2 sisters. Dad absolutely loved his grandparents and he loved #10. In 1958, at the age of 18, he left #10 and his family to join the Air Force. Dad served his country for 22 years, 6 months, and 17 days. He did 2 tours in Vietnam and several other tours overseas. While he was stationed in England, his first 2 daughters, Carole and Jane, were born. In 1973, he met and married Sue Barnes, who he affectionately called "Bella", and became a dad to my brother, Shawn. 2 years later, hoping for a boy, his last daughter was born. Sorry dad!

After retiring from the Air Force, dad started working at Tinker Air Force Base in 1982 and eventually retiring in 2008. He met so many people and had so many funny stories to tell over the course of his 26 plus years of civil service. I have met and worked with some of those people, and they always tell me how much they like Vetoe and always joke about how much coffee he drank and his numerous cigarette breaks.

Dad loved to fish. Every year he would get together with his uncles and they would go on a fishing trip to Eufaula Lake. He was very close to his uncles and enjoyed the time they all spent together doing what they all loved to do.

Dad's greatest loves were his grandkids, Taylor, Tori, and Alex. He helped to take them and pick them up from school, went to school plays, band concerts, football games, weddings and whatever else they might be doing. Rain, snow, ice, it didn't matter. He would be there.

Dad had a few flaws, like we all do, and those flaws were his love for the Dallas Cowboys and OSU Football. Nobody's perfect.

Vetoe, Jimmy, Jim, Dad, Pappa and Honey. These are the names he answered to. Each of these names belong to 1 man. A GREAT MAN. A man that is loved and is missed.

Vetoe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sue Hentz; daughter, Erin Marinko and husband John; Mother-in-Law, Lucille Barnes; grandkids, Taylor, Tori and husband Josiah, and Alex; sisters, Joanne Holliday, Vicky Miller and husband Dale; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Shawn; daughter, Carole; Father-in-law, Avery Barnes; Brothers-in-law, Lee, and Mark Barnes; Mother, Daisy Lozano Banks; Father, Vetoe Hentz; Brother-in-Law, Johnny Holliday; Uncles, Salvador, Tommie, Mike, Frankie, Manuel, and David; and Aunts, Sebena, Billie, and Mary.
