He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Clinton Arthur and Ethel Overton (Meadows); his former life partner Louise Overton (Miller); his sister Otha Grundy; his wife Francis Overton; his sons, Jerry Overton (Dianna) of Bernice and Bob Overton; and his stepchildren, Teresa Mahurin (Richard), Lisa Lewis (Johnny), Retha Snow (Stephen), James Turner (Teresa) and Dewayne Turner (Julie). He was also cherished by thirteen step-grandchildren, his nineteen step-great grandchildren and two step-great great grandchildren.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Freeman Heart Institute or the American Heart Association.
