He was predeceased by: his wife Maurine; his parents, Jesse "Shorty" and Alpha Dunkerson; and his siblings, Lovella Hitchcock, Maxine Carpenter, Luther "Dusty" Dunkerson and Robert E. Dunkerson.
He is survived by: his children, Carol Green (Kyle) of Manhattan, Linda Huffman (Paul) of Norman and Richard Dunkerson, Jr. (Jan) of Van Alstyne; and his brother Terry Ray Dunkerson of Columbia. He is also survived by six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
