Linda Belle Schutte, 85 of Lawton, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Lawton. She was born February 21, 1938, in Monticello, Illinois to John J. and Pearl B. Smith. Linda enjoyed a happy childhood living the small-town life. She was loved by her parents, and her older brother and sister, Ronald (Bud), and Frances (Sally), and her large extended family. One of her many enjoyments was attending the movies with her cousin, Judy. One night at the theatre changed her life forever. Linda and Judy really didn't go to the movies to watch the show; they went to see who was there and gossip! The young man sitting behind them asked them to be quiet, of course they didn't listen. So, the young man went to sit next to Linda to convince her to be quiet. That night changed her life forever, the young man was the love of her life, Jimmy Schutte. Jimmy and Linda were married on August 31, 1956, in Monticello. She had graduated from Monticello High School that previous May. Linda's small-town life came to an end when she and Jimmy moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. Their adventure truly began when Jimmy enlisted in the U.S. Army. Their travels took them to North Carolina, Texas, Europe, and Oklahoma. They had four children, Jeffry, Beth, Janelle, and Jeryldine. Linda was proud of Jimmy's service in the military, and one of her proudest moments was when she received recognition for her service as a military spouse at his retirement in November of 1978. Linda was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She also loved being a Girl Scouts of America Leader, and a cheer mom. Linda worked along the side of Jimmy in several of his businesses to include an imports store, bookstore, laundromat, and thrift shop. She was a bargain shopper at heart, and she had worked and volunteered at other thrift shops, but Paradise Thrift Store was her domain, it was the extension of her home as she worked alongside Jimmy, Janelle, and Jeff. Linda supported Jimmy in his involvement in Civic and Veteran's organizations by decorating for events. She was proud of these accomplishments.

Linda is survived by her daughters, Beth Traina, Janelle Jones and husband Terry, Jeryldine Schutte-Pogue and wife Pamela, her grandchildren, Robin Moore, Tiffany Atchley and husband Brian, Rachel Edgar and partner Scottie, Jacob Edgar, great grandchildren, Dustin Moore, Kaylee Moore, Cameron McCarley, Kadyn McCarley, Holden Atchley, Max Stamper, and her son-in-law, Ronald Edgar. She is also survived by her sister Connie Busick and husband Ray, sisters-in-law, Ada Smith, Sue Stewart, Janelle Reid, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy, son Jeffry, her parents, John and Pearl Smith, brother Ronald Smith, sister, Sally Chitwood, grandson, Dustin Traina, granddaughter, Kelly Jones, and son-in-law, Ross Traina.

The family would like to thank Centric Hospice and Staff for their wonderful care during her time of need.
