He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmitt Wilson Clifton and Lecta Clifton (Wharton); his spouse Dee Ballard; his former spouse Wynonah Thomas; his son David Clifton; his grandsons, Joseph and Joshua Maffeo; his great grandchild Axton Short; and his siblings, Ben Clifton, Mary Williams, Charlie Clifton and Rita Harmon.
He is survived by: his children, Rusty Clifton of Scipio, Randy Clifton (Geri) of Scipio and Debra Blansett (Gary) of McAlester; his stepsons, David McDougal (Phyllis) of Moore and Danny McDougal of Allen; his daughter-in-law Mary Susan Clifton of McAlester; his grandchildren, Dustin Clifton, Rebekah Short, Maxon Clifton, Lucas Clifton, Amber Czapansky, Nick Clifton, Jonathan Clifton, Caitlin Clifton and Randall Lynn; his sister Patsy Nie (Van) of McAlester; and his close friend Naomi Tomlinson of Holdenville. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
