He was predeceased by : his parents, Arvel L. Wood and Lena Dovie Atterberry; his siblings, Lelon, Reu and Pauline; and his children, Arlie Gene Wood and Michael David Wood.

He is survived by : his children, Gary Wood (Carmalita), Janis Wood (Mike May), Cheri Benfield (Kevin) and Lavern. He is also survived by many Grandchildren, Great-Grand Children, and several Great-Great-Grand Children.
