He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Akin and Treva Tadlock Storey; his stepfather Ed Storey; his brother James Akin; his niece Michelle; and his nephew David.

He is survived by: his wife Teresa Akin of Millerton, Oklahoma; his sisters, Henrietta (John Burnett) and Ollie (James Williams); and his sister-in-law Leola Akin of Idabel, Oklahoma. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
