He was predeceased by: his parents, William Pink Choate and Elsie Mae Choate (Urquhart); and his siblings, Velma Dean Ogle, Roy, Troy and Bill Choate.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Choate; his children, Jack Choate (Julie) of Claremore, Mike Choate (Tammy) of Okemah and Stacey Vass (Kevy) of Paden; and his grandchildren, Jacob Choate of Norman, Joshua Choate of Claremore, Tanner Choate of Okemah, Tyler Choate of Okemah, Kamden Vass of Paden and Kerrigan Vass of Paden.
