He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Dean and Mary Lou Barkey (Waugaman). He is survived by: his wife Melinda Kay Boyd; his children, Krista Watkins (Brian) of Union Mill, IN, Ryan Barkey (Teresa) of Lawton, Adam Barkey (Bethany) of Clever, MO and Sarah Stewart (Cris) of Sulphur; his grandchildren, Brandon Watkins (Sarah), Whitney Smith (Tristen), Colin Barkey, Landri Stewart, Madden Stewart, Ruby Barkey and Zeke Barkey; his sisters, Terry Matusak, Cindy Barkey and Sherry Vichek; and his great grandchild Jasper.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial be made to the American Kidney Fund.
