He was predeceased by: his parents, John McCharen and June McCharen of Oklahoma City; his daughter Susie Vesper of Oklahoma City; and his grandson Donald Edward McCleery III. He is survived by: his wife Cindy McCharen; his sister Janie Shea; his children, John Thomas McCharen IV (Tishia McCharen), Mindy McCharen McCleery (Donny McCleery) and Rob Cherry (Vicki Cherry); and his grandchildren, Jack Vesper, Kate Vesper, Blake Cherry, Ryan Cherry, Adam Cherry, Drew McCleery and Taiylor Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the St. Luke's Methodist Church (222 NW 15th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73103).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (http://www.t2t.org) and The Special Forces Association Chapter 32-50 of Oklahoma (http://www.specialforcesassociation.org), organizations close to Johnny's heart.
