He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Cruz Gutierrez and Juanita Hernandez; and his siblings, Soledad Gutierrez, Bertha Gutierrez, Angelina Gutierrez, Luis Gutierrez and Francisco Gutierrez.

He is survived by: his children, Roberto Gutierrez (Irasema Rodriguez), Jose C. Gutierrez (Gabriela Alvillar), Yolanda Alarcon (Julio), Minerva Orozco (Martin), Isela Sanchez (Jose) and Veronica Portillo (Victor); and his sister Ortencia Gutierrez.
