He was predeceased by: his parents, George Mathews and Emma Mathews; his wife Margaret J. Mathews; his son Danny E. Mathews; and his siblings, George, Herman, Ervin, Lawrence Mathews, Arlene Bobo and Ernestine D. Moore.
He is survived by: his children, Alfreda of Tulsa, Charles (Rita) of Sapulpa, David (Sue) of Sapulpa and Stacy of Tulsa; and his siblings, Erma S. Gratts of Inglewood and Charles D. Mathews (Virginia) of San Antonio. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 7th 2025 at the Calvary Baptist Church (412 N 7th St, Sapulpa, OK 74066).
