He was predeceased by: his parents, Jean Kessler and Bill Kessler; and his grandson Nathaniel Stephens. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Kessler; his children, Kimberly Stephens (Erich) and Bryan Kessler (Courtney); his grandchildren, Gordon, Lydia, Madelynn and Raegan; and his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Cupples, Melissa Clift and Jim Clift.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
