He is survived by: his wife Avenell Buchanan Coats; his children, Doris Rhoads of Jay, Debbie Davis (Steve) of Jay, James Coats of Jay and Donna Harp (Darrell) of Miami; and his sister Sondra Hostin (Richard). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
