She was predeceased by: her parents, David Matthews and Delia Matthews (Clarke); her spouse Newton Eugene Tate (Gene); her son Newton Earle Tate (Sonny); and her granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Tate.
She is survived by: her siblings, Robert Earle Matthews, Oneita Matthews, Myrtle Lee Rodman and Alice Vyvian Cloud; her grandson Jeff Ladra; her great grandchildren, Samantha Jean Lewellen, Cheyenne Marie Sylvia, Bobby Dylan Tate and Sonny James Sylvia; and her great great grandchildren, Brandon, Dillon and Melanie Ladra. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
