He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Alten Leys and Helen Hudson of Lynbrook; his brother Walter Joseph "Wally" Leys; his nephews, Michael Cunningham and David Stevens; and his great-nephew Corey Cunningham.
He is survived by: his spouse Karen Sue Wood; his son John Leys; his daughter-in-law Justine Leys; his grandson Tristyn Leys-Brower; his sister Pat Spoon; and his siblings-in-law, Charlotte (Dave Bridges) and John Wood (Ruth). He is also survived by 6 nieces, 5 nephews, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to either the ALS Association or The Alzheimer's Association.
