He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Wakefield and Lattie Wakefield; his son Thad; and his sisters, Martha, Margie and Sue.

He is survived by: his wife Sonja Flesland Wakefield; his children, Mandi Wakefield and Brett (Carie Wakefield); and his grandsons, Mason and Braden Wakefield. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their spouses.
