He is survived by: his wife Sherry Gilliland of Lowell; his children, Tammy Sumauang (Emy) of Sitka, Tanna Bartlett (Mark) of Sitka, Jean Benford (Jay) of Springfield, Jeff Gilliland (Syndie) of Lowell and Amanda Harter (Scott) of Sun Valley; his siblings, Pat Gilliland of North Carolina, Gary Gilliland of Eugene and Robin Gilliland; and his grandchildren, Brody Sumauang, Jaren Sumauang, Kyler Sumauang, Santanna Sumauang, Sharla Boddy Bartlett, Curt Bartlett, Derek Bartlett, Ryan Bartlett, David Rashone, Katie Owen, Andy Benford, Deanna Gilliand, Lane Gilliland and Mayah Harter. He is also survived by three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
