He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles Elver and Hazel Juanita Van Gorder (Reeves); his former spouses, Coralie Agnes Tronsgard and Beverly Stamp; his children, Randall Van Gorder (Dorothy), Tracy West (Jim) and Kristin Parkhurst (Jeff); his grandchildren, Jarod, Hannah Schweighardt, Ryan, Sydney Parkhurst and Allianna Van Gorder; and his sister Melissa Armbruster (Sandy). He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
