Laura L. McDowall Obituary

Shortly after midnight March 10th 2024. Laura passed away peacefully at the Laurelhurst Village assisted care center in Portland Oregon after her second battle with cancer.

Laura was born January 5th 1948 in St.Paul Minnosota to her parents Joseph Leondro Jimenez and Adelaide Aguirre; she was the sixth of eight children. Laura fell in love and married John Thomas McDowall. They both loved music John played the drums and Laura would be with him dancing and waiting tables; they were also both employed at Armour meat packing.

Laura and Tom built a family together of three children, Patricia, John and CharLee who all eventually moved to Portland Oregon after the company they were employed at closed down and transferred employees elsewhere so they and other members of the family moved to Portland.

They struggled to keep their marriage and soon divorced. Laura found a new love in her life, Dale Ludolph who risked his duties to the service to be by her side when she had to battle Cancer and later married her and helped to raise her children. After a few years they searched for a new place to reside spending less than a year in San Mateo California they found Bandon Oregon and moved to the coast and enjoyed many good years breathing the fresh open air. Laura worked at the local hospital and helped Dale with construction and painting until they moved back to California where things just didn't work out she and Dale soon separated and Laura eventually moved back to Portland to be near her children.

She lived with her son Char Lee until she met her dear friend Eugene Wolfe and they were companions he took her riding in parade's, cruises and just spoiled her with all she desired. It was a blessing knowing she had the opportunities to enjoy what life had to offer.

After loosing Eugene Laura became unable to care for herself and was diagnosed again with Cancer she had surgery and fought her back and moved to the Laurelhurst Care center she enjoyed her new residence until the Cancer took her life.

Laura always loved to cook and entertain. She also loved her music and SciFi. She had quite the imagination and could tell a joke like no other! She loved sparkling lights and toys and enjoyed sharing gifts with all she loved.

Laura was a daughter, a sister, a friend, a cousin and aunt a mother and a grandmother. She loved her dogs CoCo and Jake . She found so much joy feeding the squirrels and birds too! Laura loved the nurses and sisters of the Laurelhurst Village who gave her comfort and friendship to her final days. Most of all Laura loved her family.

Laura was proceeded in death by her parents, a sister Margo, late husband, Tom, brothers and Anthony, Saragosa, Joseph, her son John and her companion Eugene Wolfe.

At Laura's request there will be no funeral service.

In lieu of gifts or flowers the family requests to donate to your local animal shelter or The Cancer Foundation. And please light a candle for her and keep close her beautiful memory.
