He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Grupe and Clara Grupe (Ellefson); and his siblings, Frank Grupe, Dale Grupe, Elsie Hegland (Grupe) and Esther Skartvedt (Grupe).
He is survived by: his wife Donna Surls; his son Bradley Grupe (Krystal Keck) of Iowa City; his grandchildren, Briony, Kody, Troy Grupe of Iowa City, Katelyn and Elena Goodenberger of Salem; his great grandchildren, Elijah Bbayaga and Axl Henry Fischer of Salem, Oregon; and his sisters, Evelyn Paul (Grupe) of McAllen and Susie Newhall (Grupe) of Dunkerton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or Willamette Humane Society.
