He was predeceased by: his son William "Billy" R. Downey, Jr.; his sisters, Rennie (Dennison) and Patricia (McGarvey); his parents, Alice and William; and his uncle Joseph Downey.
He is survived by: his daughter Terry Downey-Frieman (Russell); his grandchildren, Ryan Downey, Evan Freiman, Mary "Dolly" Downey and Mary Frances Knecht; and his siblings, Ellen (Swider), Joseph, Barbara (Moul) and Deborah. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
