He was predeceased by: his parents, George Smith and Mildred Smith (Schmidt); his son Charles "Pat" Smith, Jr.; and his brother David K. Heiser. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn K. Smith (Leonard); his sons, Brian W. Smith (Missy) and Gregg S. Smith (Kerry); his grandchildren, Katy Smith (Brad Cipriani), L. B. Smith (Stephanie), Jocelyn Smith (Michael Fassinger) and Cydney Smith; his great grandchildren, Lincoln, Lennox, Scarlett, Kamryn and Wade; and his brother Michael K. Heiser.
