He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin D. Appel and Bettie R. Appel (Mantz); and his brothers, Donald and Dennis. He is survived by: his wife Jane Roethlein Appel; his sons, Timothy and Christopher Appel; his stepchildren, Erik, Adam and Daniele Roethlein; and his sister Patricia R. Mugavero (Thomas). He is also survived by Grandchildren: 7; Great-grandchildren.
