He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul W. Schmid and Christiane Schmid (Frick); his wife Carolyn E. Schmid (Schlottman); his children, Barbara M. Schmid and Richard P. Schmid; his granddaughter Jennifer M. Hignite; and his siblings, Paul Schmid, Hugo Schmid, Johanna Roller and Lisa Schwab.
He is survived by: his daughter Gloria E. Schmid of Hanover, MA; the mother of his children Maria B. Schmid of Emmaus, PA; his granddaughter Shannon M. Hignite of Garner, NC; his sister Lore Werthwein of Germany; and his niece Helen (Lauren Nordvall) of Trumbull, CT.
