He was predeceased by: his brothers, Enrique, Hermino, Jose Luis and Guillermo Vega; and his son Nelson Vega.

He is survived by: his wife Irma; and his children, Walter Vega (Melissa), Wilfredo Vega, Victor Vega, Luz Maldonado and Martiza Vega. He is also survived by 16 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
