He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman W. Dieter and Mabel I. Dieter (Smith); his wife Margo A. Dieter (Epting); his granddaughter Cara Ann; and his brother Reverend Sherwood L. Dieter.
He is survived by: his children, Gerald K. Dieter, Debra A. Gibbons (John L.) and Eric G. Dieter (Jennifer); his close friend Patricia Neff; his grandchildren, Daniel, Katelynn, John Jr. (Nichole), Ryan, Joshua and Samantha; and his great grandchildren, Chelsea, Hyrum, Spencer and Peter.
