She was predeceased by: her parents, Stephen Gergel and Sophie Gergel (Remek). She is survived by: her sister Sylvia Allen of Allentown; and her significant other Mary Carfara. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sophia's name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church's memorial fund.
