He is survived by: his wife Sylvia R Wilcox; his children, Stephen Merkel (Karen), Philip Merkel and Faith Wright (Keith); and his sisters, Anna Ziemer (Merkel) and Shirley Klee (Merkel). He is also survived by married December 7, 1968; three children.
