He is survived by: his brother Vincent Oakes; his wife Marie Mazzone Oakes; his son Joseph D. Oakes (Deborah); his daughter-in-law Susan Steward Oakes; his grandchildren, Robert, Kylie, Jason, Jamie, Stacy Oakes and Camille Bradford; his great grandchildren, Layla, Aundrea, Arianna, Samuel and Allyson; and his siblings, Robert Oakes and Alma Clark.
