He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph I. Bernstein and Kathleen Louise Byrne Bernstein. He is survived by: his wife Mary Alice Wood Bernstein; his children, Joseph N. Bernstein, Sr., Karen Smith (Doug Brown) and Melinda K. Bernstein; his grandchildren, Joseph N. Bernstein, Jr. and Jennifer Bernstein; and his sisters, Katherine Elman of Chicago, Ann Lee Zercher of Chicago, Margaret Shuler of Youngstown and Joan Taylor of Youngstown. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
