He was predeceased by : his parents, Phillip "Doc" H. and Vera Ely II (Housel); and his wife Glenda Sue Ely (Streett). He is survived by : his children, Phillip Wayne Ely (Kathleen) of Ashburn, VA and Karen Sue Anderson (Glenn "Buddy" Anderson) of Bedford; his grandchildren, Aspen, Aiden and Easton Anderson; and his sister Ruth Nouse (late Gary) of Bedford.
