He was predeceased by: his siblings, Anne Howard Rice and Thomas Gerald Howard (Jerry). He is survived by: his wife Claire; his children, Mimi Howard of Locust Valley, Christina Howard Trexler (Jonathan) of Phoenixville, PA and John III of Saratoga Springs; his brother Peter of Bethlehem; his grandsons, Shane J. McConnell of Phoenixville and Hugh Howard Trexler of Phoenixville; and also Howard III of Saratoga Springs.
