He was predeceased by: his son Allan John; his brothers, Gareth and Dennis; and his parents, Helen Hlavac and George Hlavac.
He is survived by: his spouse Joan M. Thornton; and his children, Pamela Caggianelli (Joseph), Andrew, Audrey Aube, Richard, Elizabeth Barrett (Daniel) and Christopher (Liz). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
