He was predeceased by : his parents, John R. Whalen and Sarah "Sis" Whalen (Myers); and his brother John A. Whalen (Vera). He is survived by : his significant other Deborah Whalen (Kline); his daughters, Megan Tomasco (Whalen), Dawn Shannon (Kulp) and Becky Bogina (Kulp); and his grandchildren, Brody, Connor, Kerrick, Casey, Caitlyn, Sarah, Brian and Alison.
