With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bessie M. McCartney of Bradford, Pennsylvania, born in Olean, New York, who passed away on May 25, 2021 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Strait and Mary Elizabeth Strait (McCool); her former husband Robert F. Burgess; her daughter Teresa L. Watson; and her brother Fred Strait.
She is survived by: her husband John C. McCartney; her daughters, Carla J. Stone (Thomas) of Limestone and Kathy D. Good of Limestone; her stepdaughter Marsha McKinney (Jim) of Bradford; her sons, Gene Work (Tammy Stuck) of Smethport, Jeffrey S. Work (Melinda) and Wilbur "Will" C. Roberts (June Conner) of Bradford; her stepsons, Elvis J. McCartney of Bradford and Robert McCartney (Charlene) of Limestone; and her siblings, Marsha E. Strait of Port Allegany, SallyJo White of Smethport, Earl Strait (Linda) of Duke Center and Lloyd Strait (Muriel) of New York. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
