He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Estes and Nellie Cornelius (Elliot); his brothers, Lewis B. Cornelius, Sr., Thomas Cornelius and Stanley Cornelius; and his daughter-in-law Jodi Cornelius (Swanson).

He is survived by: his wife Naomi Cornelius (Bush); his children, Valerie A. Byerley of Bradford, David "Andy" Cornelius (late Jodi) of Derrick City and Joseph Cornelius (Ashley) of Derrick City; and his siblings, Juanita Knell (Joseph) of Port Allegany, Mary Cornelius of Port Allegany and Frank Cornelius (Juanita) of Mt. Jewett.
