He was predeceased by: his parents, Merton A. James and Lila J Williams McLaughlin; his spouse Edwin Williams II; his daughter Tammy Coon; his great great grandchild Cambree Bell; his stepfather Ronald E. McLaughlin Sr.; and his nephew Heath Renko.
He is survived by: his sons, Joshua James (Sara) of Franklin and John Himes (Melissa) of Hazelhurst; his son-in-law Randy Coon; his siblings, Brenda Renko (late Joseph) of Coudersport, Tammy Higgins (Mark) of Coudersport, Bradley James (Dawn) of Rew, Cory James (Laurie) of Salamanca, NY and Ronald McLaughlin Jr. (Christina) of Port Alagany; his stepsiblings, Shelly McLaughlin and Brian McLaughlin; his grandchildren, John Himes Jr., Heather Bell, Lisa Kinner, Kathrine Swanson, Nicole Himes, Amanda Sobreanis, Brandon James and Haily James; and his great grandchildren, Madeline Lannager, Brenton Bell, Eddie Kinner, Eli Kinner, Natalie Brinkley and Kayleigh Sobreanis.
