She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvie Merritt and Mary Barrile Merritt; her husband Joseph A. Carpenter; and her brothers, Tom Merritt and Benny Merritt.
She is survived by: her sister Nancy Dixon (Melvin) of Bradford; and her sister-in-law Joy Merritt of Andover, OH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
