She was predeceased by: her parents, Vincent Winterhalter and Agnes Winterhalter; her husband Gilbert A. Schmitt "Gil"; and her siblings, Vincent, Edward, Donald, Richard and Grace Winterhalter.
She is survived by: her sons, Kenneth (Lora), Larry (Elena), Gary (Julie) and Thomas; her nieces and nephews, Bruce (Dana), Keith Winterhalter (Francine) and Gil; her grandchildren, Nicole Schlater (Todd), Melinda Clayton (Neal), David Schmitt (Barb), Lauren Sitosky (Derek), Daniel Schmitt (Colleen), Kelly Pax (Greg) and Amy Schmitt (Bryn Bell); and her great-nephews, Matthew Winterhalter (Ariel), Cameron Winterhalter and Addison Winterhalter.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the burial was held privately at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. A celebration of her long and meaningful life is being planned once the pandemic subsides.
