He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Montella. He is survived by: his wife Ann Montella; his father Albert Montella; his sons, Robert Montella, Jr. (Patti) and David Montella (Janet); his stepsons, George McDonnell and Matthew Gilger; his brother Jerry (Mary); his grandchildren, Robert W., Katie, David, Megan, Alex, Chris, Josh, Matt, Jr., Adrianna, Aubrey, Rhiannon and Samantha; and his great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Chase. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and his fire service family and many friends.
